My dilemma as a mother and very helpful advice from other mothers
I ‘managed’ to prolong this beautiful innocence of a child in Anouk for 9.5 years by responding her letters by a fairy called ‘Pom-Pomi’. Now, Anouk says,
‘mama, it is you, isn’t it? You are Pom-Pomi, no? My friends tell me I am silly to believe in fairies’.
What do you do?….
So, I said, ‘darling, what makes you think I am Pom-Pomi?’
…….. and I am still stuck with a future answer I need to come up with…
I attach my favourite answers from mothers who responded:
1.’Reaffirm to Anouk that Pom-Pomi is her own special fairy-friend, and that though she may not see her, she will always be with her, even when she is grown-up. I say to my kids when they ask these questions, ‘the magic is real baby’, or ‘it comes from love’, or mostly, ‘I wonder….’ or right now, ‘get in bed and go to sleep!’ We are so blessed!’
2.‘Fairies are invisible & inaudible like angels but their magic sparkles in nature. Raindrops are fairy whispers & a rustle in the wind reminds us a fairy is near. 😄Failing that watch Peter Pan
3.’Keep responding to the letters! I still do with Chloe! Magic is there as long as we believe in it! 😘’
